Drupal LinkedIn SSO Integration with OAuth Client | Drupal LinkedIn Login


Drupal LinkedIn SSO integration will allow you to configure Single Sign-On ( SSO ) login between your Drupal site and LinkedIn using OAuth/OpenID protocol. Drupal OAuth 2.0/OpenID connect module gives the ability to enable login using OAuth 2.0/OIDC Single Sign-On to Drupal Site. We provide the Drupal OAuth/OpenID Client module for Drupal 7, Drupal 8, Drupal 9 and Drupal 10. Here we will go through a guide to configure the SSO login between Drupal and LinkedIn. By following these steps, users of LinkedIn will be able to log into the Drupal site using their LinkedIn credentials.

Installation Steps:


  • Download the module:
    composer require 'drupal/miniorange_oauth_client'
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and search for miniOrange OAuth Client Configuration using the search box.
  • Enable the module by checking the checkbox and click on the Install button.
  • You can configure the module at:
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_oauth_client/config_clc
  • Install the module:
    drush en drupal/miniorange_oauth_client
  • Clear the cache:
     drush cr
  • You can configure the module at:
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_oauth_client/config_clc
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and click on Install new module.
  • Install the Drupal OAuth & OpenID Connect Login - OAuth2 Client SSO Login module either by downloading the zip or from the URL of the package (tar/zip).
  • Click on Enable newly added modules.
  • Enable this module by checking the checkbox and click on install button.
  • You can configure the module at:
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_oauth_client/config_clc

How to integrate LinkedIn Single Sign-on with Drupal OAuth/OpenID Client

1. Setup Drupal as OAuth Client

  • After installing the module, navigate to the Configuration tab and click on the miniOrange OAuth Client Configuration module link.
  • Drupal OAuth Client - Configuration tab and select miniorange oauth client module
  • In the Configure OAuth tab, select LinkedIn from the Select Application dropdown list.
  • Note: In case you can't find your Application/Provider in the Select Application dropdown list, choose the Custom OAuth 2.0 Provider.

  • Copy the Callback/Redirect URL and keep it handy.
  • Note: If your provider only supports HTTPS Callback/Redirect URLs and you have an HTTP site, please make sure to enable the 'Enforce HTTPS Callback URL' checkbox at the bottom of the tab.

  • Enter the application name in the Display Name text field. For example, LinkedIn

2. Configure SSO Application in LinkedIn

  • Go to LinkedIn Admin console and sign up/log into your account.
  • Click on Create app button.

  • In the Create an app panel, enter the required information:
    • Enter the prefered application name in App name text field.
    • LinkedIn Page: Enter your company's name or the URL of your linkedIn company page.
    • App logo: Add your company logo.
    • Check the legal terms and conditions checkbox, then click the Create app button.

  • Navigate to the Auth tab and, under the OAuth 2.0 settings section, click the Pencil icon.
  • Click on + Add redirect URL link and paste the copied Callback URL into the Authorized redirect URLs for your app text field. Then, click on Update button.

3. Integrating Drupal with LinkedIn

  • LinkedIn assigns a unique Application ID to your application. Copy the Client ID from the Application credentials section.

  • In Drupal’s Configure OAuth tab and paste the copied Client ID into the Client ID text field.

  • In the Application credentials section, click the Eye icon. Then copy Client Secret.

  • In Drupal’s Configure OAuth tab and paste the copied Client Secret into the Client Secret text field.

  • Navigate to the LinkedIn page. Go to the Products tab.

  • Under the Sign In with LinkedIn card, click on the Request access button.
  • Click on Request Access button
  • Click on checkbox to accept the legal terms and conditions, then click the Request access button.

  • You have successfully completed your LinkedIn App OAuth Server side configurations.
  • Scope r_emailaddress r_liteprofile
    Authorize Endpoint https://www.linkedin.com/oauth/v2/authorization
    Access Token Endpoint https://www.linkedin.com/oauth/v2/accessToken
    Get User Info Endpoint https://api.linkedin.com/v2/me

4. Test Configuration of Drupal with LinkedIn

  • After successfully saving the configurations, click on the Perform Test Configuration button to test the connection between Drupal and LinkedIn.

  • This Test Configuration window will provide you with a list of the attributes that are coming from the LinkedIn.
  • Select the Email Attribute from the dropdown menu in which the user's email ID is obtained and click on the Done button.

  • Now, in the Attribute & Role Mapping tab, you can also choose the Username Attribute from the dropdown and click on the Save Configuration button.

    Please note: Mapping the Email Attribute is mandatory for your login to work.

  • Now log out and go to your Drupal site’s login page. You will automatically find a Login with LinkedIn link there. If you want to add the SSO link to other pages as well, please follow the steps given in the image below :
