Step by Step Guide to Configure LinkedIn as an OAuth/OpenId Connect Server



If you want users to login to your WordPress site using their LinkedIn credentials, you can simply do it using our WP OAuth Client plugin. Once you configure the LinkedIn with WordPress plugin, you can allow users to SSO to your WordPress site using LinkedIn. Follow the Step-by-Step Guide to configure LinkedIn with WordPress :

  • First of all, go to https://www.linkedin.com/secure/developer?newapp= in order to create a new application. Click on Create Application button to create a new application.

  • Enter the required details and click on the Submit button to save your changes. (Refer to the image on the next page)

  • Copy the Client Id and the Client Secret and save it in your miniOrange OAuth Client plugin under Client Id and the Client Secret text fields respectively.

  • Copy the Redirect/ Callback URl from miniOrange OAuth Client plugin and enter it under OAuth 2.0 -> Authorized Redirect URLs textbox. Click on the Add button adjacent to the text box to save it. Finally, click on the Update button to save your configurations. (image on the next page).

    LinkedIn Endpoints and Scope:

    Client ID : from the step 3 above
    Client Secret : from the step 3 above
    Scope: r_basicprofile
    Authorize Endpoint: https://www.linkedin.com/oauth/v2/authorization
    Access Token Endpoint: https://www.linkedin.com/oauth/v2/accessToken
    Get User Info Endpoint: https://api.linkedin.com/v2/me
