Setup Github Login to Shopify Store – Shopify Github Social Login

Overview

The miniOrange Social Login Application makes logging into your Shopify Store super easy. With this application, your users can quickly use their Github account to sign in, whether it's a Shopify Plus or Non-Plus store. Once you enable Github Social Login, users will be able to utilize their preferred credentials to access your Shopify store. Users will not need to create multiple accounts and they will be able to log in using their Github Account.

Github Login for Shopify

Github is a code hosting platform for version control and collaboration. It is extremely popular in the coding community as users can store and manage their code effortlessly. It lets users to work together on projects from anywhere in collaboration.

Pre-requisites: Shopify Social Login Application

To configure SSO into Shopify with Github as IDP, you will need to install the miniOrange Social Login application on your Shopify store.

Configuration Steps

Step-By-Step Guide to Enable Github Login on Shopify Store

Step 1: Configure Custom App in Shopify for Github Login

• Go to the social login application Dashboard. Here, please click on Github application.

• If you don't want to setup your custom app then please click on Setup app in just one click. Then, Click on Save. This will setup your Github application for Shopify.

• That is all you require to do to add Connect with Github button to Shopify. To Setup a custom app for Github, please follow the steps below.

Step 2: Configure Custom App in Github site

• Go to https://github.com/settings/developers/ and sign in with your Github account.
• On the page, Click on the Register a New Application button.

• On the following page, Enter Application Name.
• Enter your Homepage URL and Authorization callback URL from the instructions page.
• Click on Register Application button.

• Copy the Client ID from the App page that shows up and paste it on the instructions page under Client ID.

• Click on Generate a new client secret. Copy the Client Secret that shows up and paste it on the instructions page under Client Secret.

Step 3: Complete Setup of Github Login on Shopify

• Copy the Client Id and Client Secret form above setup and Paste them into the fields in Instructions.

• Then click on Save & Test Configuration button.
• A notification from the app will pop-up that the test configuration was successful. That means your Custom app was set properly.

• Now, You can see the Github social Login button is activated on your Shopify Store. This will allow users to connect to your shopify store using Github application.

Hence you have configured Github Social Login into Shopify Store.
