Configure Drupal Two-factor Authentication ( Soft Token )


Setup Soft Token with Drupal 2FA ( Two-Factor Authentication ) module. This guide will help you to configure Soft Token as Two Factor Authentication ( 2FA ) method for your Drupal site. Drupal 2FA module will add a second layer of authentication to your Drupal account to increase the security of your site from unwanted hacks and unauthorized login attempts.

Pre-requisite: Download and Installation 


  • For Window:
    composer require drupal/miniorange_2fa
  • For Linux:
    composer require 'drupal/miniorange_2fa'
  • Go to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and enable the module by checking the checkbox and click on Install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup
  • Download the module:
    drush dl miniorange_2fa
  • Install the module:
    drush en miniorange_2fa
  • Clear the cache:
     drush cr
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and click on Install new module.
  • Install the Drupal Two Factor Authentication / Passwordless login module either by downloading the zip or from the URL of the package (tar/zip).
  • Click on Enable newly added modules.
  • Enable this module by checking the checkbox and click on Install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup

Steps to configure Soft Token method with Drupal Two-Factor Authentication ( 2FA ) module:

1. Configure Soft Token 2FA method

  • Register/Login with miniOrange.
  • Drupal 2FA registration
  • Navigate to Setup Two-Factor tab. Select Soft Token and click on the Configure link.
  • Drupal 2FA select Soft Token method
  • Download miniOrange Authenticator app [ Android] [IOS].
  • Drupal miniorange authenticator from google play store and apple play store
  • Scan the QR code in miniOrange Authenticator app.
  • Drupal 2FA Scan the QR code
  • You have successfully configured Soft Token 2FA method.
  • Drupal 2FA Successfully Configured Soft Token method

2. Try login using miniOrange 2-Factor module ( Soft Token )

  • Once you complete the Soft Token setup, open a new browser/private window, and login into your Drupal site. You will be asked to authenticate your identity using the Soft Token (2FA) method.
