SAML Single Sign On ( SSO ) into Drupal using JumpCloud as IDP


Drupal SAML JumpCloud SSO (Single Sign-On) setup will allow your user to login to your Drupal site using their JumpCloud Credentials. Drupal SAML module gives the ability to enable SAML Single Sign-on for Drupal. This module is compatible with all SAML Identity Providers (IdP). We provide Drupal SAML Single Sign on - Service Provider module which is compatible with Drupal 7, Drupal 8, Drupal 9 and Drupal 10. Here we will go through a guide to configure SAML SSO between Drupal and JumpCloud Idp. By the end of this guide, users from your Identity Provider should be able to login into the Drupal site.

Installation Steps


  • Download the module:
    Composer require 'drupal/miniorange_saml'
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and search for miniOrange SAML Service Provider using the search box.
  • Enable the module by checking the checkbox and click on install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_saml/idp_setup
  • Install the module:
    drush en drupal/miniorange_saml
  • Clear the cache:
     drush cr
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_saml/idp_setup
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and click on Install new module button.
  • Install the Drupal SAML SP 2.0 Single Sign On (SSO) - SAML Service Provider module either by downloading the zip or from the URL of the package (tar/zip).
  • Click on Enable newly added modules.
  • Enable this module by checking the checkbox and click on install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_saml/idp_setup

Steps to configure Drupal SAML Single Sign-On ( SSO ) Login into Jumpcloud

1. Configure JumpCloud as SAML Identity Provider

Follow the steps below to configure JumpCloud as SAML IdP

  • Login to your JumpCloud Administrator console.
  • Click on Administrator Login.
  • SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) using JumpCloud (IdP),administator login
  • Login with your JumpCloud administrator Login credentials.

  • Click on SSO in the left navigation panel under User Authentication and click on plus(+).

  • Now select Custom SAML App.

  • In the application information enter Display label and Description.
  • SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) using JumpCloud (IdP),app name
  • Now switch to the SSO tab in the same window.
  • SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) using JumpCloud (IdP),upload metadata
  • In the miniOrange SAML Service Provider module, navigate to Service Provider Metadata tab. Here, you can find the SP metadata such as SP Entity ID / Issure, SP ACS URL (AssertionConsumerService) and x.509 Certificate which are required to configure the Identity Provider (JumpCloud), You can provide SP metadata either by giving Metadata URL or by downloading the Metadata file on clicking Download XML Metadata.
  • Drupal SAML Service Provider - copy the sp metadata url and download xml metadata
  • You can click on Upload Metadata to upload metadata file or can manually enter the SP Entity ID, IDP Entity ID, ACS URL and SP Certificate. After that click on Activate button.
    • In Single Sign-On Configuration, enter the following:

      Idp Entity ID Enter SP Entity ID / Issuer from the Service Provider Metadata tab of the module.
      SP Entity ID Enter SP Entity ID / Issuer from the Service Provider Metadata tab of the module.
      ACS URL Enter ACS URL from the Service Provider Metadata tab of the module.

2. Configure Drupal as SAML Service Provider

Follow the following steps to configure Drupal as SP

  • Find your application, enable the check-box beside it and click on export metadata to download the Metadata file required for Service provider configuration.

  • Steps to configure Drupal as SP:
    • By Uploading IDP Metadata
      • Click on Upload IDP Metadata link.
      • Click on Upload Metadata File and click on Upload File to fetch your information.
      • You can either Upload Metadata URL and click on Fetch Metadata button.
