Drupal Passwordless Login

Passwords have been the focus of brute force attacks recently. Passwordless login removes the need to enter or remember passwords and allows users to log in using the second factor of authentication. This setup guide will take you through the steps to enable the passwordless login feature for Drupal website.The Drupal Two Factor Authentication - 2FA / Passwordless Login is available for Drupal 7, Drupal 8, Drupal 9, Dupal 10, and Drupal 11.

  • Download the module:
    Composer require 'drupal/miniorange_2fa'
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and search for miniOrange Second Factor Authentication using the search box.
  • Enable the module by checking the checkbox and click on install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup
  • Download the latest version of Google Authenticator on iOS/Android device.
  • Install the module:
    drush en miniorange_2fa
  • Clear the cache:
     drush cr
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and click on Install new module button.
  • Install the miniOrange Second Factor Authentication module either by downloading the zip or from the URL of the package (tar/zip).
  • Click on Enable newly added modules.
  • Enable this module by checking the checkbox and click on install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup
  • The following checkboxes are enabled under Login Settings tab of the module:
    • Enable Two-Factor module
    • Invoke Inline Registration to setup 2nd factor for users
  • Register/Login with miniOrange.
  • Navigate to Login Settings tab.
  • Scroll down to the Passwordless Login section and Enable Password less login checkbox.

  • Click on the Save Settings button.
  • Open a new browser/private window and navigate to login page of Drupal site.
  • Enter your Drupal username and click on the Login with 2nd Factor button.
  • Complete the authentication and click on the Verify button
