Setup Gitlab Login to Shopify Store – Shopify Gitlab Social Login

Overview

The miniOrange Social Login Application makes logging into your Shopify Store super easy. With this application, your users can quickly use their Gitlab account to sign in, whether it's a Shopify Plus or Non-Plus store. Once you enable Gitlab Social Login, users will be able to utilize their preferred credentials to access your Shopify store. Users will not need to create multiple accounts and they will be able to log in using their Gitlab Account.

Gitlab Login for Shopify

Pre-requisites: Shopify Social Login Application

To configure SSO into Shopify with Gitlab as IDP, you will need to install the miniOrange Social Login application on your Shopify store.

Configuration Steps

Step-By-Step Guide to Enable Gitlab Login on Shopify Store

Step 1: Configure Custom App in Shopify for Gitlab Login

• Go to the social login application Dashboard. Here, please click on Gitlab application.

• If you don't want to setup your custom app then please click on Setup app in just one click. Then, Click on Save. This will setup your Gitlab application for Shopify.

• That is all you require to do to add Connect with Gitlab button to Shopify. To Setup a custom app for Gitlab, please follow the steps below.

Step 2: Configure Custom App in Gitlab site

• Go to https://gitlab.com/profile/applications and sign in with your Gitlab account.
• Go to application and enter App name and Redirect URL.

• Check the scopes read_user, profile, email. Click on save application.

• Now, you will be redirected to application details page here you can find Application ID and Secret. Copy them as Client ID and Client Secret and paste it on instructions page respectively.

Step 3: Complete Setup of Gitlab Login on Shopify

• Copy the Client Id and Client Secret form above setup and Paste them into the fields in Instructions.

• Then click on Save & Test Configuration button.

• A notification from the app will pop-up that the test configuration was successful. That means your Custom app was set properly.

• Now, You can see the Gitlab social Login button is activated on your Shopify Store. This will allow users to connect to your shopify store using Gitlab application.

Hence you have configured Gitlab Social Login into Shopify Store.
