How do I enable Inline Registration / 2FA for all the Drupal users?


Setup Inline Registration with Drupal 2FA module. This guide will help you enable the Inline Registration feature. By enabling the Inline Registration feature, your end users wiil be able to choose/configure there preferred Drupal 2FA method. Drupal 2FA module will add a second layer of authentication to your Drupal account to increase the security of your site from unwanted hacks and unauthorized login attempts.

The Drupal Two Factor Authentication - 2FA / Passwordless Login is available for Drupal 7, Drupal 8 and Drupal 9. The upcoming major Drupal releases i.e. Drupal 10 will also be supported.

Pre-requisite: Download and Installation 


  • For Windows:
    composer require drupal/miniorange_2fa
  • For Linux:
    composer require 'drupal/miniorange_2fa'
  • Go to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and enable the module by checking the checkbox and click on Install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup
  • Download the module:
    drush dl miniorange_2fa
  • Install the module:
    drush en miniorange_2fa
  • Clear the cache:
     drush cr
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and click on Install new module.
  • Install the Drupal Two Factor Authentication / Passwordless login module either by downloading the zip or from the URL of the package (tar/zip).
  • Click on Enable newly added modules.
  • Enable this module by checking the checkbox and click on Install button.
  • Configure the module at
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_2fa/customer_setup

Setup/Configure Two Factor Authentication (TFA) for all the Drupal Users | Inline Registration

This video will help you how to enable the Inline Registration feature. When you enable the Invoke Inline Registration feature, your end users will be able to set up/configure there preferred Drupal 2FA method during their initial login.


Configure Inline Registration 2FA Form

  • Register/Login with miniOrange.
  • Drupal 2FA registration
  • Navigate to Login Settings tab.
  • Under the 2FA module settings make sure you have enabled the Enable Two-Factor module and Enforce users to set up their 2FA Method on First Login (Inline Registration) checkbox. Scroll down and click on the Save Settings button.

    Note: Once you have enabled the settings, the users will be asked to setup Two Factor Authentication via inline registration upon next login. You can open a private window and login to the Drupal site with a user.

    miniorange img To see how Invoke Inline Registration works, go through below steps:
    • Enter the Drupal Username & Password then click on the Log in button.
    • Drupal 2FA - enter username and password into drupal site
    • Select any authentication method as per your choice and then click on the Next button.
    • For Example, we have selected the Okta Verify Authenticator method.
    • Drupal 2FA Enter the Passcode

      • Download the Okta Verify Authenticator app on your mobile.
      • Scan the QR code in your mobile app.
      • Enter passcode generated in Okta Verify Authenticator app and click on the Submit button.

      Note: There are numerous authentication methods listed in the dropdown. If you select another authentication method, such as OTP via SMS, OTP via EMAIL, OTP via Phone Call, OTP via SMS and EMAIL etc., the above step might differ slightly.

    • Once the user is logged in, the user can navigate to 2FA Configurations under the user profile to setup backup KBA method. Click on the Configure button.
    • Drupal 2FA Successfully configured
    • Select the questions and click on the Submit button.
    • Drupal 2FA Successfully configured
  • You have successfully configured the 2FA method along with security KBA questions by using Inline Registration form.
  • Drupal 2FA Successfully login
