Freja eID SSO Login with Drupal OAuth Client | Drupal SSO Login


Drupal Freja eID SSO integration will allow you to configure Single Sign-On ( SSO ) login between your Drupal site and Freja eID using OAuth/OpenID protocol. Drupal OAuth 2.0/OpenID connect module gives the ability to enable login using OAuth 2.0/OIDC Single Sign-On to Drupal Site. We provide the Drupal OAuth/OpenID Client module for Drupal 7, Drupal 8, and Drupal 9.
Here we will go through a guide to configure the SSO login between Drupal and Freja eID. By following these steps, users of Freja eID will be able to log into the Drupal site using their Freja credentials.

Pre-requisite: Download and Installation 


  • Download the module:
    Composer require 'drupal/miniorange_oauth_client'
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and search for miniOrange OAuth Client Configuration using the search box.
  • Enable the module by checking the checkbox and click on the Install button.
  • You can configure the module at:
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_oauth_client/config_clc
  • Install the module:
    drush en drupal/miniorange_oauth_client
  • Clear the cache:
     drush cr
  • You can configure the module at:
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_oauth_client/config_clc
  • Navigate to Extend menu on your Drupal admin console and click on Install new module.
  • Install the Drupal OAuth & OpenID Connect Login - OAuth2 Client SSO Login module either by downloading the zip or from the URL of the package (tar/zip).
  • Click on Enable newly added modules.
  • Enable this module by checking the checkbox and click on install button.
  • You can configure the module at:
    {BaseURL}/admin/config/people/miniorange_oauth_client/config_clc
  • Navigate to the Configure OAuth tab and search for your Provider/Application using the search box. If you can't find a desired application/provider, select Custom OAuth Provider.

  • Copy the Callback/Redirect URL and keep it handy.

1. Setup Freja eID as an OAuth Provider

Freja eID Application Endpoints and Scope:


Client ID : you will get from Freja eID app
Client Secret : you will get from Freja eID app
Scope: openid profile email
Authorize Endpoint: https://oidc.prod.frejaeid.com/oidc/authorize
Access Token Endpoint: https://oidc.prod.frejaeid.com/oidc/token

2. Integrating Drupal with Freja eID

  • Go to Extend, Scroll down till you find miniOrange OAuth Client. Click on the checkbox next to it and click on the Install button to enable the module.

  • Click on Configuration from the top navigation bar and Select Drupal OAuth client Configuration.

  • Enter your OAuth Provider's information in their respective fields and click on the Save button to continue.Also, copy the Callback/Redirect URL and save it on your OAuth Provider.

3. Test Configuration of Drupal with Freja eID

  • Now click on the Test Configuration button. This Test Configuration link will give you the list of the attributes that are coming from your OAuth Provider.
  • Copy the email and the name attributes and save them under the Attribute & Role Mapping tab in the Email Attribute and Username Attribute text field respectively.
  • Please note: This step is mandatory for your login to work. Click on the Save button to save your attribute configurations.

  • If your OAuth Provider supports only HTTPS Root URL or Base URL (for eg. Azure, Azure B2C) you can change it under Sign In Settings tab.

  • Now logout and go to your Drupal site’s login page, you will automatically find a Login withYour OAuth Provider link there. If you want to add your login link to other pages as well, please follow the steps given in the below image:
