Xecurify Inc’s Joomla Extensions Licensing Information

Xecurify Inc DBA miniOrange Security Software Private Limited

At miniOrange, we provide a range of Joomla extensions to help enhance the functionality of your website. These extensions include both open-source options and proprietary (closed source) solutions. Understanding the licensing terms for each type of extension is crucial for ensuring you are using the software in accordance with the applicable agreements.

This page outlines the licensing terms for both open-source and closed-source extensions provided by miniOrange. It explains the key agreements that govern the usage, modification, and distribution of our extensions, as well as the rights and responsibilities of both users and miniOrange.

Definitions:

  • Extensions: The term "Extensions" refers to any module, plugin, product, tool, application, software, or derivatives developed, maintained, provided, made available, or created by miniOrange.
  • Open Source Software: Software that is distributed with a license that allows users to freely use, modify, and distribute the software, typically with the condition that any modified versions are also made available under the same license.
  • Closed Source/Proprietary Software: Software that is owned by an individual or company (miniOrange, in this case) and is not made available under an open-source license. The distribution and use of proprietary software are governed by specific terms outlined in agreements like the End User License Agreement (EULA).
  • GNU General Public License (GPL) version 3: An open-source software license that ensures users can freely use, modify, and distribute software, with the condition that any derivative works must also be made available under the GPL. Specifically, the GPL allows users to:
    • Use the software for any purpose.
    • Study how the software works and modify it to fit their needs.
    • Distribute copies of the software to others, either in its original form or modified.
    • Distribute modified versions of the software, ensuring that the same rights apply to the new version.
  • End User License Agreement (EULA): A legal agreement between the software provider (miniOrange, in this case) and the end user, governing the use of proprietary software. It outlines the terms, rights, and restrictions associated with the software. Link to EULA
  • Terms of Service (TOS): A set of rules and guidelines that users must agree to when accessing and using miniOrange’s services or products. This can include aspects like acceptable use and limitations of liability. Link to TOS
  • Service Level Agreement (SLA): A contract between miniOrange and the customer that outlines the expected level of service, including things like uptime, support response time, and resolution timelines for paid closed-source extensions. Link to SLA

Open Source Extensions

All of miniOrange’s Joomla extensions that are available on the Joomla Extension Directory (JED), whether downloaded directly from the official miniOrange website or from miniOrange’s listings on the Joomla Extension Directory (JED), fully comply with the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 3. These extensions are open-source in accordance with the terms set out by the GPL.

While the GPL license provides freedom to use and modify the software, it does not grant any rights to use miniOrange trademarks, logos, or branding beyond the ordinary installation and use of the software. Any use of our trademarks or brand for promotional, commercial, or derivative purposes requires explicit written permission from miniOrange.

These Open Source Extensions provided by miniOrange are not governed by any other agreements, such as our End User License Agreement (EULA) or other Terms and Policies, as these agreements are specific to Closed Source Extensions only.

Closed Source Extensions

All miniOrange Joomla extensions that can be downloaded solely from the official miniOrange website that may require a subscription or a purchase are separate from the Open Source Extensions and are proprietary software. These closed source extensions are not governed by the GNU GPL but instead fall under the scope of miniOrange's End User License Agreement (EULA), Terms of Service (TOS), Service Level Agreement (SLA), and any other agreements presented at the time of purchase or subscription.

The terms and conditions laid out in these agreements apply specifically to closed source extensions and govern the usage, distribution, and support for these products. These agreements may be amended or updated at miniOrange’s discretion.

Key Points:

miniOrange’s Open Source Extensions are not governed by miniOrange’s EULA, TOS, or SLA, as these agreements apply exclusively to Closed Source Extensions.

miniOrange’s Closed Source (Proprietary) Extensions are separate from the Open Source Extensions.

The terms and conditions laid out in agreements like EULA, TOS, and SLA apply specifically to Closed Source Extensions and govern usage, distribution, and support.

These agreements may be amended or updated at miniOrange's discretion.
