Moodle Single Sign-On (SSO) With WordPress as OAuth Server | Moodle SSO

WordPress OAuth Server plugin enables Single Sign-On (SSO) into the Moodle using your WordPress username and password. Once you configure the Moodle with WP OAuth Server plugin, you can login to your Moodle application using WP credentials. OAuth Server plugin also allows you to send custom WordPress user attributes to your Moodle app as per your requirements. Download And Installation

  • Log into your WordPress instance as an admin.
  • Go to the WordPress Dashboard -> Plugins and click on Add New.
  • Search for a WordPress OAuth Server Single Sign-On (SSO) plugin and click on Install Now.
  • Once installed click on Activate.

Steps to configure WordPress Login into Moodle

1. Setup WordPress as OAuth Server

  • Go to miniOrange OAuth Server on the left side menu and click on Custom OAuth 2.0 client button to create a new client.

  • Enter Client name as you want. Enter the Redirect / Callback URL that you will get from Moodle under the Authorized Redirect URI field and click on Save Client button.

  • Note down Client ID, Client Secret, Issuer URI to configure in your OAuth Client.

2. Setup Moodle as OAuth Client

  • Login to the developer account of Moodle and click on site administration on the left.

  • Click on server and select OAuth2 Services.
  • OAuth server Single Sign-On(SSO)WordPress- moodle select OAuth2 services
  • Create a new custom service.
  • OAuth server Single Sign-On(SSO)WordPress- moodle create custom service
  • Enter the Client ID, Client Secret you got from the miniOrange OAuth server plugin. Enter the Issuer URI under the Service base url field and Click on Save changes button.
  • OAuth server Single Sign-On(SSO)WordPress- moodle enter credentials
    Client ID : Click Here
    Client Secret: Click Here
    Scope: openid email profile
    Issuer url : Click Here
  • You will now see the SSO button on your login page.
