Synology Single Sign-On (SSO) using WordPress as OAuth Server

WordPress OAuth Server plugin enables Single Sign-On (SSO) into the Synology using your WordPress username and password. Once you configure the Synology with WP OAuth Server plugin, you can login to your Synology application using WP credentials. OAuth Server plugin also allows you to send custom WordPress user attributes to your Synology app as per your requirements. Download And Installation

  • Log into your WordPress instance as an admin.
  • Go to the WordPress Dashboard -> Plugins and click on Add New.
  • Search for a WordPress OAuth Server Single Sign-On (SSO) plugin and click on Install Now.
  • Once installed click on Activate.

Steps to configure WordPress Login into Synology

1. Setup WordPress as OAuth Server

  • Go to miniOrange OAuth Server on the left side menu and click on Custom OpenID Connect client button to create a new client.
  • OpenID server Single Sign-On(SSO)WordPress- Synology app select
  • Enter Client name as you want and Enter the Redirect URL that is Your Synology Domain URL as a Redirect URL and click on Save Client button.
  •  OpenID server Single Sign-On(SSO)WordPress- Synology Authorized Redirect URI
  • Note down Client ID as an Application ID, Client Secret as an Application Key and OpenID Connect Discovery as a Wellknown URL to configure in your OpenID Client.

2. Setup Synology as OpenID Connect Client

  • Login to the developer account of Synology.
  • In the Control Panel, open the SSO Client tab and enable the OIDC settings as shown below:

  • Select the Profile as oidc from the dropdown menu and enter the further details:

    Application ID : Click Here
    Application Key : Click Here
    Authorization Scope: openid profile email
    Wellknown URL: https://<your-wordpress-domain>/wp-json/moserver/<client-id>/.well-known/openid-configuration
  • Once this configuration is done, you should see a screen, like this:

  • You will now see the SSO button on your login page.
