What is social login?

Social Login allows users to connect to any website using various networking platforms such as Facebook, Google, Twitter etc. It is a form of single sign-on for users designed and implemented to make logging in easier for end-users. Using social login users can sign into any third-party website without having to create an account.

How does Social Login Works?

The social login process is extremely simple. Users come to your website and select whichever social login provider they want to login. They fill in their details on the social network provider’s site. Once the authentication process is completed by the social provider the user can start using your TYPO3 website. If they are a new user then they are registered and if they are an existing user they are logged in.

Pre-requisites : Download And Installation

• Log into your Typo3 instance as an admin.
• Navigate to Extensions tab from left pane.
• Select Get Extension from the dropdown and search for miniOrange Social Login and install the extension.
• Now select Installed Extensions from the dropdown menu and search for Social Login and activate the extension.

Steps to configure Twitter Social Login into TYPO3

Step 1. Configure Twitter Social Login In TYPO3

Follow the steps below to configure Twitter login in TYPO3

 Configure Twitter Social Login

• Go to https://developer.twitter.com/en/apps and sign up/login with your Twitter credentials.
• Click on Create Project button.

• Enter the Project Name and click on next button.

• Select the Usecase of your project from the dropdown menu.

• Enter your project description.

• Now, you will be asked to setup the application. Enter the App name and click next.

• Click on App settings button.

• Click on Setup button from user authentication settings menu.

• Enable the checkbox for OAuth 1.0a in users authentication settings. If you want to get the email address as well, then don’t forget to enable the Request email address from users option.

• Navigate back to miniOrange social login plugin and copy the provided Redirect URL.
• Paste the redirect URL in the Callback URI / Redirect URL field. Enter the Website URL and click on save button.

• Now go to Keys and Tokens.

• Click on regenerate keys and you will get API keys and API Secret key to enable login with twitter.

• Copy your API key and Secret and save them in your miniOrange social login plugin (under client id and client secret field respectively) to setup Social Login with Twitter.

2. Set credentials in miniOrange Social Login Plugin

• Go to miniOrange Social Login Plugin → Click on Configure Apps → click on Twitter:
• Enable Twitter Social Login for TYPO3 by enabling the toggle button.
• Copy the Client Id and Client Secret form above setup and Paste them into the fields in Twitter Instructions.
• Enter the required scope.
• Then click on Save & Test Configuration button.
• A notification from the plugin that the test was successful will be shown. That means your Custom app will set properly.
• Now, Navigate to customer login page. Here you will notice that Twitter Social Login button has been activated. Customers can now login using their Twitter Credentials.

You have successfully configured Twitter Social Login for TYPO3 Website.
