Hivebrite SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) | Login into Hivebrite using WordPress

Hivebrite is one of the world's fastest-growing mentoring platforms. You can now enable Single Sign-On (SSO) to Hivebrite using WordPress as your Identity Provider (IDP) with the SAML IDP plugin. This plugin allows you to use your WordPress (WP) credentials to securely log in to Hivebrite via SSO. Here we will go through a step-by-step guide to configure SSO between Hivebrite as Service Provider (SP) and WordPress as an Identity Provider (IDP).

To configure Hivebrite SSO with WordPress site as an Identity Provider, you will need to install the miniOrange SAML IDP plugin.

Follow the following steps to configure Hivebrite as SP:

  • Login to the WordPress site as Admin.
  • Go to the SAML IDP plugin, and navigate to the IDP Metadata tab.
  • Here, you can find the Identity Provider Metadata URL /XML Metadata or endpoints like IDP Entity ID, SAML Login URL, SAML Logout URL (Premium Feature), Certificate for SP configuration.

  • Login to your Hivebrite site.
  • You would require the following endpoints from the plugin to configure the SSO:

Name of Identity Provider WordPress
Issuer URL Provide the IDP-Entity ID / Issuer value from the IDP metadata tab of the SAML IDP Plugin
SSO URL Provide the SAML Login URL / Passive Login URL from the IDP metadata tab of the SAML IDP Plugin
Certificate Provide the Certificate downloaded from the IDP metadata tab of the SAML IDP Plugin

  • To configure Single Sign On in the IDP side, get the SP metadata from Hivebrite.
  • Go to the SAML IDP plugin, and click on the Service Providers tab.
  • Enter the following information into the corresponding fields:

Service Provider Name Hivebrite
SP Entity ID or Issuer Copy and paste the SP-EntityID from Hivebrite
ACS URL Copy and paste the ACS URL from Hivebrite
NameID Format urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress

  • Click on the Save button to save the configurations.

  • In the SAML IDP plugin, navigate to the Attribute/Role Mapping tab.
  • In the User Attributes section, enter attribute names under Name and choose the corresponding User Meta Data from the dropdowns.
  • You can also add more attributes by clicking on + sign to add attributes.
