How to enable the Single Sign On button on the WordPress login page?


The following guide outlines steps to add a Single Sign On (SSO) button on WP Login page for your admins, editors or authors to login using IDP credentials when you have a public-facing WordPress site. This guide ensures easy access for members whose login details are available in Identity Provider (IDP) while enhancing site security.


How to add a customized IDP Single Sign-On button on WordPress login page?

Follow the steps given below to add a customized IDP Single Sign-On button on the WordPress login page:

1. Configure Identity Provider of your choice

  • In the miniOrange SAML 2.0 SSO plugin, navigate to the Service Provider Metadata tab.
  • Secure WordPress Admin Login page | Service Provider Metadata URL
  • Copy the SP Entity ID and ACS (AssertionConsumerService) URL provided.
  • Paste these URLs into the desired fields of your chosen Identity Provider configuration.

  • Alternatively, you can provide the SP Metadata URL into IDP to Configure the Identity Provider.

2. Configure WordPress SAML Service Provider

  • In the miniOrange SAML 2.0 SSO plugin, navigate to the Service Provider Setup tab.
  • Select the Identity Provider of your choice.
  • Secure WordPress Admin Login page | Select IDP
  • Input the necessary fields such as the IDP Name, IDP Entity ID or Issuer, SAML Login URL, and X.509 Certificate from your Identity Provider.
  • Save the configuration by clicking on the Save button.

  • Otherwise, you can also configure the Service Provider by clicking on the Upload IDP Metadata button and entering the Identity Provider name, IDP metadata URL or uploading the IDP metadata.

4. Add a customized SSO button on WordPress login page

  • In the miniOrange SAML 2.0 SSO plugin, navigate to the Redirection & SSO Links tab.
  • Scroll down to the Login button section.
  • Secure WordPress Admin Login page | Add and customize SSO button
  • Enable the Add a Single Sign on button on the Wordpress login page toggle and customize the SSO button by specifying the shape, theme, color, size, etc of button.
  • Click on the Update button.
