Configure LockOn – Content Restriction application on your Shopify Store


The Shopify LockOn - Content Restriction application allows you to lock your Shopify store and control who can access your pages, products, and collections on your Shopify store. You can restrict customers from accessing Shopify products/ pages/ blogs/ articles/ collections etc. based on their Shopify tags/ logged-in status or location etc. Using this application you can prevent bots and spammers from accessing your Shopify store, placing fake orders, or engaging in other malicious activities. Pre-requisite: LockOn ‑ Content Restriction Application

To configure LockOn ‑ Restrict Store Content, you will have to install the miniOrange LockOn‑ Restrict Store Content Application on your store.

miniOrange allows you to restrict access to your store's pages, products, collections, and so on. (both plus and minus).



Step-by-Step Guide for Configuring Shopify LockOn- Content Restriction Application

After installing the LockOn- Content Restriction application on your store, you can configure the lock by following the steps below:

1. Configure the Name of your lock.

  • Click on the Start Locking button. Alternatively, you can click on the Create Lock button. This action will take you to the New Lock section in the upper navigation bar. There, you can set up and configure your lock as needed.

  • Enter the name you'd like to give your lock in the Lock Name input box.

2. Configure the Content for Locking

  • Selected Content: Use this to secure specific content, such as Products and Collections that come under the Free Plan and Blogs, Articles, and Pages that come under the Premium Plan.
    • When you choose Selected Content for locking, you can specify which specific content, such as Products, Collections, Blogs, etc., to apply the lock to.
    • Select the option and Enable the button as shown in the image below if you want to create a lock on this option.

    • Let’s say you want to create a lock on Products. Firstly you will have to click on Selected Content >> Products >> Enable to create a lock on products.
    • You can select multiple items to include in Content to be Locked. You can also select content from multiple options by simply enabling the button and selecting the content in that respective option.
  • Price (Premium Plan): Select this If you want to hide the Prices of products for customers who fail the defined Lock criteria.
  • Purchase Form (Premium Plan): Select this If you want to hide the Purchase Form for customers who fail the defined Lock Criteria. If you are looking to hide the Buy Now or Add to Cart button you can choose Purchase Form as your content for locking.
  • Files (Premium Plan): You can add the files in the File Dashboard Section. You can create a lock for that file using the Files option
  • Automatic Discounts (Premium Plan): Reach out to us if you want to Configure this section here.
  • Quantity Discounts (Premium Plan): Reach out to us if you want to Configure this section here.

3. Configure the Lock Scheduling

  • Immediately: You can choose the Immediately option to make the lock active immediately after creating the lock.
  • Schedule: If you want the lock to be active on specific days of a week or a month then you can schedule the lock.

4. Configure the Lock Criteria

  • Users will be permitted or restricted from accessing the locked content if they fail this Lock Criteria
  • Click on the Select Customer Criteria button.

  • Select the Lock Criteria.

    • Logged-in user: Select this to create a lock based on Logged-In users and Non-logged-in users.
    • Customer Tag: Select this to create a lock based on specific customer tags.
    • Passcode Lock: Select the passcode lock option to allow authorized users to have the password to access the locked content in the store.
    • Location: Select this to create a lock based on the location of the users.
    • Selected Customer: Select this to create a lock by defining customized criteria based on the customer object properties of Shopify.
    • Lock type for lock criteria: Based on the lock criteria you can either allow or restrict users from accessing the content.

    • Based on the lock criteria (let’s say customer tag) you can either allow or restrict users from accessing the content based on the customer tag
    • Click on the Save Key button.

5. Configure the behavior of the Lock

  • You can specify how the locked content behaves for users who don't meet the criteria defined above.
    • Redirect to login URL
    • Redirect to the store page
    • Custom HTML Code
    • Redirect to another URL

6. Configure modifications in the existing lock

  • You can see the list of all locks that you have created on the dashboard.
  • To Enable the lock: Simply navigate to your dashboard and ensure that the "Enable" toggle is switched to the "On" position.

  • To Disable the lock: Simply navigate to your dashboard and ensure that the "Enable" toggle is switched to the "Off" position.

  • To Edit the lock: To edit the lock, just click on the settings icon located below the actions on your dashboard, and then select "Edit".

  • To Delete the lock: To edit the lock, just click on the settings icon located below the actions on your dashboard, and then select "Edit".

  • Click on the Create Lock button located in the upper right corner.
