How to Configure Profile Picture Map Add-On for SSO in WordPress?

The miniOrange Profile Picture Map addon lets you sync a user’s profile photo from your IDP to WordPress during Single Sign On. It supports profile picture attributes that contain a public image URL or a Base64-encoded image, helping you keep user profiles consistent without manual updates. In this guide, we will show how to configure profile picture mapping with the WordPress SAML or OAuth SSO plugin.

  • Before configuring the addon, test your SAML Plugin configurations by clicking on Test Configuration button under the Service Provider Setup tab in the miniOrange SAML 2.0 SSO Plugin.
  • Once the Test Configuration is successful, go to the Profile Picture Map addon settings.
  • Enable the Profile Picture Mapping option to allow mapping of profile picture from your IDP to WP.
  • Enter the Attribute Name in which you have mapped the profile picture attribute.
  • Click on Save Configuration.
  • Profile Picture Mapping - save configuration
  • Go to the miniOrange WordPress Single Sign-On (SSO) plugin. Select your OAuth provider (e.g. Facebook/ Google) from the list.
  • Profile Picture Mapping - Select oauth provider
  • Complete the OAuth Provider configuration setup by referring to the setup guides from here. After you have saved the settings, Click on Test Configuration button. You can see the Attribute name and its value in the test configuration table.

  • Scroll down and click on the Attribute Mapping section. Under the Map Custom Attributes section enter the field meta name of your choice and enter the Profile attribute name from the OAuth Provider test configuration table. (Refer to the below image)
