Microsoft Authenticator Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for TYPO3 - Complete Setup Guide

• Download miniOrange Two Factor Authentication Free plugin zip from here.
• Run the following commands on command prompt to enable the plugin

composer require miniorange/otp

php vendor/bin/typo3 upgrade:run

php vendor/bin/typo3 cache:flush

1. Configuration Steps

Step-by-Step Guide for Configuring Microsoft Authenticator Two Factor Authentication into TYPO3.

• Setup Microsoft Authenticator 2FA for Customers
• Setup Microsoft Authenticator 2FA for Admins

• Navigate to 2FA Settings tab and select Customer 2FA to setup 2FA for customers.

• Select the Site on which you would like to enable the Microsoft Authenticator Method.
• Enable Microsoft Authenticator option and click on Add Rule button.

• Go to Customer Login page and login with your username and password.

• After entering their login credentials, users will be prompted with Microsoft authenticator QR code. Scan the QR code.

• Enter the verification code from the Microsoft Authenticator mobile application and click on verify to access the TYPO3 store.

• Navigate to 2FA Settings tab and select Admin 2FA to setup 2FA for admins.

• Select the Admin Role on which you would like to enable the Microsoft Authenticator Method.
• Enable Microsoft Authenticator option and click on Add Rule button.

• Go to Admin Login page and login with your username and password.

• After entering their login credentials, users will be prompted with Microsoft authenticator QR code. Scan the QR code.

• Enter the verification code from the Microsoft Authenticator mobile application and click on verify to access the TYPO3 store.

2. User Management Settings

• Users who have successfully configured 2FA are recorded in User Management tab.

• Admin can disable and reset the 2FA method for frontend and backend users who want to skip 2FA or incase they are locked out.

• Click on the checkbox infront of the user and click on Disable or Reset option to perform the required settings.

• 2FA will now be disabled or restored for the selected users.
