Lessonly.ly LMS Single Sign-On (SSO) / Login using WordPress as SAML IdP

Lessonly.ly LMS is one of the world's fastest growing learning management systems. You can now Single Sign-On(SSO) / Login into Lessonly.ly LMS using WordPress credentials (WordPress as Identity provider (IdP)) with Login using WordPress Users ( WP as SAML IDP ) plugin. Our plugin gives you the ability to use your WordPress (WP) credentials to Single Sign-On(SSO) / Login into Lessonly.ly LMS. Here we will go through a step-by-step guide to configure SSO between Lessonly.ly LMS as Service Provider (SP) and WordPress as an Identity Provider (IdP).

To integrate the WordPress site as an Identity Provider, you will need to install the miniOrange Login using WordPress Users ( WP as SAML IDP ) plugin:

  • Login to the WordPress site as Admin.
  • Go to the WordPress IDP plugin, navigate to the IDP Metadata tab.
  • Here, you can find the Identity Provider Metadata URL /XML Metadata or endpoints like IDP Entity ID, SAML Login URL, SAML Logout URL (Premium Feature), Certificate for SP configuration.
Configure SAML SSO in Lessonly.ly lms (SP) with WordPress - Lessonly.ly lms Single Sign on

  • Login to your Lessonly.ly LMS domain.
  • Provide the following values from the WordPress IDP to configure your SAML SSO connection.
SAML SSO URL Provide the data from IDP metadata tab of the WordPress miniOrange Plugin
Identity Provider Issuer Provide the data from IDP metadata tab of the WordPress miniOrange Plugin
X.509 Certificate Provide the data from IDP metadata tab of the WordPress miniOrange Plugin
Lessonly.ly.com Account URL https://[yourSubDomain].Lessonly.ly.com/
  • To configure Single Sign-On provide the above information and mail it to Lessonly.ly Support Team by requesting them to enable SAML Single Sign-on for your account.
  • Once the configuration is done, you will be able to find your Lessonly Service Provider metadata at https://your_subdomain.lessonly.com/auth/saml/metadata.
  • This metadata file will contain information including the nameIDFormat, the Service Provider Callback URL, the issuer name, and the SAML version.
  • You would need Entity ID, ACS URL from Lessonly.ly LMS.
  • You can find this information in the above mentioned Lessonly Metadata file or after the Lessonly.ly Support Team sends you the proper configuration.

Instructions:

  • Login to the WordPress site.
  • Install and activate the Login using WordPress Users ( WP as SAML IDP ) plugin on your WordPress site which is acting as Identity Provider.
  • Go to the WordPress IDP plugin, navigate to the Service Providers tab.
  • Enter the values corresponding to the information from Lessonly.ly LMS. Refer to the table below.
Service Provider Name Lessonly.ly
SP Entity ID or Issuer Copy and paste the SP-EntityID from Lessonly.ly LMS
ACS URL Copy and paste the ACS URL from Lessonly.ly LMS
NameID Format urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress

  • Click on the Save button to save your configuration.
  • In the WordPress IDP plugin, navigate to the Attribute/Role Mapping tab.
  • In the User Attributes section, enter the following information and click on Save.
  • You can also add more attributes by clicking on + sign to add attributes.
