Panopto is a software company that provides lecture recording, screencasting, video streaming, and video content management software, which is often used in E-learning environments.
Panopto SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) with WordPress as SAML IdP. Login using WordPress Users (WP as SAML IDP) plugin gives you the ability to use your WordPress (WP) credentials to login into Panopto (SP). Here we will go through a step-by-step guide to configure SSO between Panopto as SP (Service Provider) and WordPress as IdP (Identity Provider).

Note: Premium Version of WP SAML IDP Plugin is required to set up SSO with Panopto.

Pre-requisites: Download And Installation

To integrate the WordPress site as an Identity Provider, you will need to install the miniOrange Login using WordPress Users (WP as SAML IDP) plugin:

Guide to set up SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) in Panopto with WordPress (WP)

1. Setup Panopto as SP (Service Provider)

  • Open a new browser tab or window, Log in to your Panopto Server as Account Administrator.
  • Once logged in, expand the System menu and click Identity Providers.
  • admin view panopto as sp
  • Click the Add Provider link.
  • Select SAML 2.0. From here you can either upload your IDP's metadata file or manually enter the settings for your SAML provider and click Save when complete.
  • Enter the information into the corresponding fields.

  • Provider Type SAML 2.0
    Instance Name Enter name of your WordPress Site.
    Friendly Description This can be anything you'd like; it is just describing your provider. This is how the IDP will be displayed in the sign-in dropdown..
    Bounce Page URL Copy and paste the SAML Login URL.
    Panopto Entity ID https://<panoptoserverURL>/Panopto/Pages/Auth/Login.aspx
    Issuer Copy and paste the IDP-Entity ID.
    Public Key Download and Open the Certificate in Notepad. Copy and paste the content here.

2. Configure WordPress (WP) as IdP (Identity Provider)

  • Go to WordPress IDP Plugin on the Dashboard and select Service Providers tab.
  • Enter the following information into the corresponding fields. Click Save.
    Service Provider Name Panopto
    SP Entity ID or Issuer https://<panoptoserverURL>/Panopto/Pages/Auth/Login.aspx
    ACS URL https://<panoptoserverURL>/Panopto/Pages/Auth/Login.aspx
    NameID Format urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress
    Assertion Signed Check to sign the SAML Assertion.
