LinkedIn SSO - Login using WordPress Users (WP as SAML IDP) Plugin enables Single Sign-On (SSO) login into LinkedIn using WordPress Login credentials. In this guide we will Setup SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) with WordPress in LinkedIn by configuring LinkedIn as Service Provider (SP) and WordPress as Identity Provider (IDP).

Note: Premium Version of WP SAML IDP Plugin is required to set up SSO with LinkedIn.

Pre-requisites: Download And Installation

To integrate the WordPress site as an Identity Provider, you will need to install the miniOrange Login using WordPress Users (WP as SAML IDP) plugin:

Guide to configure LinkedIn Single Sign-On (SSO) Login with WordPres

1. Setup LinkedIn as SP (Service Provider)

  • Go to the WordPress IDP plugin, navigate to the IDP Metadata tab.
  • Here, you can find the Identity Provider Metadata URL /XML Metadata or endpoints like IDP Entity ID, SAML Login URL, SAML Logout URL (Premium Feature), Certificate for SP configuration.
  • Configure SAML SSO in LinkedIn (SP) with WordPress - LinkedIn SSO Login with WordPress
  • Open a new browser tab or window, Log in to your LinkedIn account as Account Admin.
  • Click Go to Admin & Navigate to SETTINGS > Global Settings.
  • Select Admin Account - LinkedIn SSO Login with WordPress Navigate to Global settings - LinkedIn SSO Login with WordPress
  • Expand the Single Sign-On (SSO) section, click Download to download a metadata file.
  • Download metadata file - LinkedIn SSO Login with WordPress
  • Open the metadata you just downloaded in an editor, then locate & keep EntityID and Location(ACS) URL which you will need for configuring WordPress as IDP.
  • Open Configure the LinkedIn Service Provider SSO settings box, Upload the IdP Metadata File which you have downloaded .
  • Click Save SSO configuration
  • Save SSo configuration - LinkedIn SSO Login with WordPress
  • After you have completed your configuration, enable SSO. Click Activate SSO Connection.

You have successfully configured LinkedIn as Service Provider.

2. Configure WordPress (WP) as IdP (Identity Provider)

  • In the WordPress IDP plugin, navigate to the Service Provider tab and enter the values corresponding to the information from LinkedIn.
  • Service Provider Name LinkedIn
    SP Entity ID or Issuer Copy & paste the SP-EntityID from LinkedIn's Metadata file
    ACS URL Copy & paste the Location from LinkedIn's Metadata file
    NameID Format urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress
    Assertion Signed Check to sign the SAML Assertion

  • Click on the Save button to save your configuration.

3. Attribute Mapping (This is a premium feature)

  • In the WordPress IDP plugin, navigate to the Attribute/Role Mapping tab.
  • In the User Attributes section, enter the following information and click on Save .
  • You can also add more attributes by clicking on + sign to add attributes.
  • Name User Meta Data
    Email user_email
    FirstName first_name
    LastName last_name
