How to Use OAuth/OpenID Connect Plugin Abilities with ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude?

The miniOrange OAuth/OpenID Connect plugin supports the WordPress Abilities API, which allows AI agents like ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude to interact directly with your site's authentication settings. With this integration, you can troubleshoot OAuth/OpenID Connect configuration issues, contact the support team, and update plugin settings using simple natural language prompts instead of searching documentation or hunting for the right settings tab.

Before getting started, make sure the following are in place:

  • Install and activate the miniOrange OAuth/OpenID Connect plugin from your WordPress plugins page.
  • In your WordPress admin, click on miniOrange OAuth Client, open the Abilities API submenu, and toggle Enable Abilities API (MCP Public) to On.

Note and Contact Us - OAuth Client SSO Plugin Abilities with AI Agents

Note: You can use our plugin's listed abilities with any AI agent. Here, we've chosen ChatGPT to show how this works.

WPO004: Invalid Login attempt

  • If WordPress displays the error code WPO004 along with the message "Invalid Login attempt. Please login using email and password," it means an administrator is attempting to log in via SSO while admin SSO is disabled on the OAuth app.
  • Send the prompt Fix WPO004 issue to ChatGPT to automatically diagnose and enable admin SSO on the target app.
  • Once the issue is fixed, ChatGPT confirms it by replying Admin SSO has been enabled for the app. Please retry the SSO login, and you can test the OAuth Client SSO plugin to ensure it works properly.

WPO005: Username not received

  • If WordPress displays the error code WPO005 along with the message "Username not received. Check your Attribute Mapping configuration," it means the plugin could not find a username or email field in the Identity Provider's response.
  • Send the prompt Fix WPO005 issue to ChatGPT to automatically map the email and username attributes from your most recent Test Configuration response.
  • Once the issue is fixed, ChatGPT confirms it by replying with the mapped attributes (for example, Mapped email="mail", username="preferred_username"), and you can retry the SSO login to ensure it works properly.
  • Note: Before using this ability, make sure you have run Test Configuration at least once, as the plugin reads the cached IdP response to perform the mapping.
  • If the error continues, you can instruct ChatGPT to submit a query to the support team. This allows you to escalate the problem for further investigation.
  • If you submit the query without entering an email address, ChatGPT will respond by asking you to provide an email address. The plugin requires this information to send the query to the support team.
  • Once you include your email address in the query, ChatGPT confirms that the request has been sent successfully. The confirmation message displays the details shared, such as your email and the issue description (WPO004 – Invalid Login attempt error). You can also choose to attach your current plugin configuration to the ticket, which helps the support team diagnose the issue faster. At this point, the support team receives your request and will contact you directly at the provided email with troubleshooting steps.
  • On our end, we received a message from your email address along with the issue details you submitted through ChatGPT. We can now directly follow up and share troubleshooting steps with you.
  • On your side, you will receive a response message from ChatGPT. This message confirms that the support team will contact you at the email address you entered and provides an explanation of the error.
  • If the SSO login button is on the WordPress login page and you want to remove it, you can simply prompt ChatGPT to disable it.
  • ChatGPT will then automatically update the site configuration in our OAuth Client SSO plugin, hiding the SSO button from the WordPress login page (wp-login.php).
  • You can use this same approach to control other site settings, such as enabling or disabling admin SSO login, or auto-configuring your OAuth endpoints by providing an OpenID Connect discovery URL.

In this guide, we explored practical use cases where you can use the abilities of the miniOrange OAuth Client SSO plugin directly through ChatGPT. These examples show how you can save time by making changes instantly and reducing repeated queries by handling common tasks yourself. There are many other abilities you can explore to simplify site management.

Thank you for your response. We will get back to you soon.
