Setup Guide to configure User Provisioning ( SCIM ) into Joomla with JumpCloud


miniOrange provides a ready to use solution for Joomla User Provisioning using SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) standard. This solution ensures that you can sync add, update, delete, and deactivate user operations with Joomla using the SCIM User Provisioner plugin.

Pre-requisites : Download And Installation

1. Install miniOrange SCIM User Provisioning Plugin

  • Download the zip file for the miniOrange SCIM User provisioning plugin for Joomla from the link here.
  • Now go to the System -> under Install section -> click on Extensions
  • Scim User provisioning for Joomla
  • Now under Upload Package File click on Or browse for file then select zip file of SCIM User Provisioning plugin.
  • Scim User provisioning for Joomla
  • Once Zip file is uploaded then click on Components -> Joomla miniOrange SCIM -> Account Setup -> Register/Login

2. Configure Joomla as SCIM Server

  • Navigate to the SCIM Configuration tab to find the SCIM Base URL and SCIM Bearer Token, which will be handy for you.
  • Joomla User Provisioning and Sync - Copy the SCIM Base URL and SCIM Bearer Token

3. Configure Joomla User Provisioning with JumpCloud

  • Login into your JumpCloud Admin Console.

  • Navigate to the SSO on the left hand side.

  • Click on Plus (+) icon.

  • In the Configure New SSO Application, search for Joomla,If your application is not listed in the supported functionality search box, click the Custom SAML app button to create it.

  • Go to General Info tab and enter Display block name as per your choice.

  • Navigate to SSO tab, you can either upload the Service Provider Metadata or can enter manually SP Entity ID and ACS URL from the SAML SP Single Sign On (SSO) - SAML Service Provider Plugin.

  • Click on Save button.
  • Then redirect to home page and click on checbox to enable configured application. Then click on export metadata button to download xml file.

  • Navigate to miniOrange SAML Service Provider Setup Plugin. In the Service Provider Setup tab,Upload the Metadata file downloaded from the JumpCloud.

  • In the JumpCloud dashboard, inside your configured Joomla Application , navigate to the Identity Management tab.
  • Scroll to the bottom and paste the SCIM Base URL in the Base URL field and the SCIM Bearer Token in the Token Key field from step 1.
  • Click on the Test Connection button, if the configuration is successful then the success message will be displayed and then click on Activate button.
  • jumcloud scim user provisiong - go to identity managementtab and enter base url & token key
  • Navigate to User Groups tab and assign to users in the App.
  • Go to Users tab, assign the users to the application you created.
