Steps to configure Paypal Single Sign-On (SSO) into Joomla

  • Download the zip file for the Paypal OAuth Client plugin for Joomla from the link here .
  • Login into your Joomla site’s administrator console.
  • From Menu, click on System, then under Install section click on Extension.

  • Upload the downloaded zip file to install the Joomla OAuth Client plugin.

  • After successful installation of plugin, click on Start Using Paypal OAuth Client plugin button.

  • Under Configure OAuth tab. Select Paypal as an OAuth Provider.

  • Copy the Callback/Redirect URL from Configure OAuth tab of Joomla OAuth Client plugin.

    Setup Paypal as OAuth Provider

    • First of all, go to https://developer.paypal.com/developer/applications/ and log into your Paypal account.
    • You will be presented with the Application Management Page. Scroll down to REST API apps and click on Create App.

    • You will be shown a form where you have to enter Application Name and Sandbox Developer Account. Fill the form with appropriate information. Then Click on Create App.

    • You will be brought back to Application Management page. Here you can find Client ID and Secret.

    • Copy these credentials and keep it handy because you will need it in the next step.
    • Scroll Down to Sandbox App Settings. Fill Callback/Redirect URL from miniOrange Oauth Client plugin which you copied in the last step. Then Click on + or press Enter.

    • Now go to the Joomla OAuth Client plugin, under Configure OAuth tab, enter the all the details. Then click on Save Settings and then click on Test Configuration.

      Scope: openid profile email
      Authorize EndPoint: https://www.paypal.com/signin/authorize
      Access Token Endpoint: https://api.paypal.com/v1/oauth2/token
      Get User Info Endpoint: https://api.paypal.com/v1/identity/oauth2/userinfo

    Attributes Mapping and SSO with Paypal

    • Once you click on Test Configuration button, You will be able to see the attributes in the Test Configuration output as follows.
    •  Paypal Single Sign-On (SSO) OAuth/OpenID
    • Now you have to do Attribute Mapping to perform SSO. Select the attribute name for Email and Username from dropdown. Then click on Save Attribute Mapping button.
    •  Paypal Single Sign-On (SSO) OAuth/OpenID
    • Now you can use Login / SSO URL to perform SSO.
    •  Paypal Single Sign-On (SSO) OAuth/OpenID
    • Now logout and go to your Joomla site's pages where you have added this link. You will see a login link where you placed that button. Click on this button to perform SSO.
    • Congratulations, you have successfully configured the miniOrange OAuth Client plugin with your Paypal OAuth Provider.
