Configure Twitch Single Sign-On (SSO) into Joomla

  • Download the zip file for the miniOrange OAuth Client plugin for Joomla from the link here .
  • Login into your Joomla site’s administrator console.
  • From Menu, click on System, then under Install section click on Extension.

  • Upload the downloaded zip file to install the Joomla OAuth Client plugin.

  • After successful installation of plugin, click on Start Using miniOrange OAuth Client plugin button.

  • Copy the Callback/Redirect URL from Configure OAuth tab of Joomla OAuth Client plugin.

  • First of all, go to Twitch Console and Login/Signup.
  • Go to https://dev.twitch.tv/console.

  • Before creating or registring App, enable the 2FA. Go to Extention and then click on Enable 2FA

  • Under the tab of Security and Privacy click on Setup Two-factor Authentication.

  • Click on Enable 2FA and enter details

  • Click on Done to successfull enable the 2FA.

  • Once 2FA is enable, then go to https://dev.twitch.tv/console/apps and click on Applications -> Register Your Application .

  • Enter your Application name under the Name field. Enter the Redirect/Callback URI which is copied from here, paste under the OAuth Redirect URL field. Then Select Category

  • Verify yourself and the click on Create.

  • Click on Manage under Applications

  • Copy the Client ID and click on New Secret to generate Client Secret Copy this Client Secret and save it on your miniOrange OAuth Client plugin Configuration.

    Twitch Endpoints and Scope:


    Scope: user:read:email
    For more scopes click here.
    Authorize Endpoint: https://id.twitch.tv/oauth2/authorize
    Access Token Endpoint: https://id.twitch.tv/oauth2/token
    Get User Info Endpoint: https://id.twitch.tv/oauth2/userinfo
  • Now go to the Joomla OAuth Client plugin, under Configure OAuth tab, enter the all the details. Then click on Save Settings and then click on Test Configuration.

Attributes Mapping and SSO

  • Once you click on Test Configuration button, You will be able to see the attributes in the Test Configuration output as follows.

  • Now you have to do Attribute Mapping to perform SSO. Select the attribute name for Email and Username from dropdown. Then click on Save Attribute Mapping button.

  • Now you can use Login / SSO URL to perform SSO.
