Configure Twitter Single Sign-On (SSO) Login into Joomla

  • Download the zip file for the miniOrange OAuth Client plugin for Joomla from the link here .
  • Login into your Joomla site’s administrator console.
  • From Menu, click on System, then under Install section click on Extension.

  • Upload the downloaded zip file to install the Joomla OAuth Client plugin.

  • After successful installation of plugin, click on Start Using miniOrange OAuth Client plugin button.

  • Copy the Callback/Redirect URL from Configure OAuth tab of Joomla OAuth Client plugin.

  • Log into the Twitter developer portal
  • Click on the Create project button.

  • Enter the Name for your project and click on Next button.
  • Login with Twitter into Joomla | Twitter SSO with Joomla, Project Name
  • Select the Usecase from the dropdown list.

  • Enter the Description for your project and click on Next button

  • Click on Create a new App.
  • Login with Twitter into Joomla | Twitter SSO with Joomla, Create New App
  • Enter the App Name and click on Complete button to create the application.

  • After saving your application, you will get a Client ID and Client Secret. Save these details as we will be requiring these later to configure the OAuth client plugin.

  • Go to App setting.
  • Login with Twitter into Joomla | Twitter SSO with Joomla, App Settings
  • Click on Edit button for Authentication settings.
  • Twitter OAuth OpenID Connect with Joomla | Single Sign-On with Joomla using Twitter, Edit Authentication Settings
  • Enable 3-legged OAuth for sign in Twitter.
  • Twitter OAuth SSO with Joomla | Twitter Single Sign-On, Enable 3-legged OAuth
  • Enter the Callback URL which is copied from here and your website URL.
  • Login with Twitter into Joomla | Twitter SSO with Joomla, Callback URL and Website URL
  • Click on the Save button
  • Twitter OAuth OpenID Connect with Joomla | Single Sign-On with Joomla using Twitter, Save Settings
  • Now go to the Joomla OAuth Client plugin, under Configure OAuth tab, enter the all the details. Then click on Save Settings and then click on Test Configuration.

    Scope: email
    Authorize EndPoint for Twitter Oauth / OpenID SSO : https://api.twitter.com/oauth/authorize
    Access Token Endpoint for Twitter Oauth / OpenID SSO : https://api.twitter.com/oauth2/token
    Get User Info Endpoint for Twitter Oauth / OpenID SSO : https://api.twitter.com/1.1/users/show.json?screen_name=here-comes-twitter-screen-name

Attributes Mapping and SSO

  • Once you click on Test Configuration button, You will be able to see the attributes in the Test Configuration output as follows.
  •  Twitter Single Sign-On (SSO) OAuth/OpenID
  • Now you have to do Attribute Mapping to perform SSO. Select the attribute name for Email and Username from dropdown. Then click on Save Attribute Mapping button.
  •  Twitter Single Sign-On (SSO) OAuth/OpenID
  • Now you can use Login / SSO URL to perform SSO.
  •  Twitter Single Sign-On (SSO) OAuth/OpenID
