SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP and miniOrange as SP


SAML SSO using WordPress as Identity Provider and miniOrange as Service Provider can be achieved by using our Login using WordPress Users ( WP as SAML IDP ) plugin. Here we will go through a guide to configure WordPress as Identity Provider and miniOrange as Service Provider.

Single Sign-On (SSO) login with WordPress Users into any Service Provider like Tableau, Zoho, Zoom, Moodle, Canvas LMS, Absorb LMS, TalentLMS, etc.

 Tested with 6.5.2

Steps to configure SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP and miniOrange as SP

1. Configure WordPress as Identity Provider

  • In the miniOarnge’s xecurify dashboard navigate to Identity Providers >> Add Identity Provider.
  • Click on the link to get the Service Provider endpoint details.

  • Click on the Show Metadata Details button for the desired INITIATED SSO type.
  • miniOrange (as SP) SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP | SP Endpoints Data
  • Go to the WordPress IDP plugin on the WordPress Admin Dashboard and click the Service Providers tab.
  • Enter the following information into the corresponding fields.

  • miniOrange (as SP) SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP | WordPress Configuration
    Service Provider Name miniOrange
    SP Entity ID or Issuer Copy and paste the Entity ID or Issuer from the miniOrange as SP
    ACS URL Copy and paste the ACS URL from miniOrange as SP
    NameID Format urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress
    Response Signed Unchecked
    Assertion Signed Checked
    Encryption Assertion Unchecked
  • Click on the Save button.

2. Configure miniOrange as Service Provider

  • Go to miniOrange Admin Console.
  • From the left panel, click on the Identity Providers tab.
  • Click on Add Identity Provider button.

  • In the SAML tab, click on the Import IDP Metadata button.
  • miniOrange (as SP) SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP | Import IDP Metadata
  • Download the metadata from the IDP Metadata tab of the plugin.
  • miniOrange (as SP) SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP | IDP Metadata
  • Choose an appropriate IDP name and select IDP Metadata as File. Then browse for the file you downloaded in the previous step.
  • Click on the Import button.
  • miniOrange (as SP) SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP | Import IDP Metadata
  • As shown in the below screen the IDP Entity ID, SAML SSO Login URL, Single Logout URL and x.509 Certificate will be filled from the Metadata file we just imported.

  • Domain Mapping Can be used to redirect specific domain user to specific IDP
    Show IdP to Users Enable this if you want to show this IDP to all users during Login
    Send Configured Attributes Enabling this would allow you to add attributes to be sent from IDP
  • Click on Save button.
  • miniOrange (as SP) SAML SSO using WordPress as IDP | Import IDP Metadata
  • Verify the connection between WordPress IDP and miniOrange SP by clicking on Test Connection button.
