SAML Single Sign-On into Joomla using ClassLink

Below, we provide a step-by-step guide on configuring SAML SSO login between your Joomla site and ClassLink, with ClassLink serving as the Identity Provider (IDP) and Joomla as the Service Provider (SP).

In this setup, ClassLink serves as the repository for storing users i.e. it will act as the IDP while Joomla is where users will log in using their credentials from ClassLink where Joomla SAML SP SSO Plugin will be installed.

Install Joomla SAML SP Plugin
  • Select ClassLink Management Console to create SAML app.
  • Navigate to Single Sign-On tab, in left panel and click on SAML Console.

  • Click on ADD NEW.

  • To present a list of pre-configured SAML apps click on COPY EXISTING. You can update the settings(URLs, domain names, etc) of existing apps from here.

  • Copy the IDP Metadata URL and provide it to your Service Provider. This is a unique URL for your organization.
  • This will help you to configure your Service Provider.

  • Navigate to the 3 dots shown and click on Edit.

  • To configure SAML Identity Provider settings, provide the following values:
Name
Provide a Service Provider name. Example: Joomla App
Metadata URL
Provide the Metadata URL from the Service Provider Metadata tab of the plugin

  • Click on Save to save your configuration.
  • You can add any other custom Attribute Mapping and/or Metadata Overrides that are necessary.

  • Then click on Update.

You have successfully configured ClassLink as SAML IdP ( Identity Provider) for achieving ClassLink SSO login into your Joomla Site.
