Configure Social Login into WordPress using Dropbox | Dropbox SSO Plugin





What is Social Login?

Social Login allows users to connect to any website using various networking platforms such as Facebook, Google, or Twitter. It is a form of single sign-on for users designed and implemented to make logging in easier for end-users. Using social login users can sign into any third-party website without having to create an account.


How does Social Login Works?

The social login process is extremely simple. Users come to your website and select whichever social login provider they want to login. They fill in their details on the social network provider’s site. Once the authentication process is completed by the social provider the user can start using your WordPress website. If they are a new user then they are registered and if they are an existing user they are logged in.


Dropbox Login for WordPress
Dropbox is a cloud storage (file hosting) service that lets you save files online and sync them to your devices.
You can easily share files and folders using Dropbox links with other people without sending large attachments. By synchronizing your Dropbox files locally and online, you can easily access these files anywhere and share them with others more easily.

Step 1: Configure Custom App for WordPress Dropbox Login :

  • Visit the Dropbox website for developers https://www.dropbox.com/developers and click on Create Apps.

  • On the following page, Choose Scoped Access New as your API. Choose Full Dropbox Access as your type of access. Lastly Name your app. Then click on Create App.

  • Scroll down to OAuth2 section. Enter your Redirect URI. Click on Add
    • Register new dropbox app for dropbox wordpress sign in for login in wordpress
  • Scroll back up and go to Branding section. Here enter App Name, Company/Website name as Publisher, add a Description.
  • Enter your Website domain as App Website. Add App icons and then click on Save Changes.

  • Go back to Settings. Copy the App key and App secret and use them as App ID and App secret in miniOrange Social login plugin.

Step 2: Set credentials in miniOrange Social Login Plugin.

  • Go to miniOrange Social Login Plugin → Click on Configure Apps → click on Dropbox:

  • Copy the Client ID and Client Secret from the app credentials section and paste it on the Dropbox Instructions page.

  • Then click on Save & Test Configuration button.

  • If you aren’t already logged in, please log in to Dropbox.
  • A notification from the plugin that the test was successful will be shown. That means your Dropbox custom app was set properly.

  • Now you can see that Dropbox login is enabled on your WordPress site.
