How to set up 2-Factor Authentication(2FA) from WordPress User Profile section?

Follow the steps given below to set up Two-Factor Authentication(2FA) to WordPress User Profile section?

1. Installation for 2-Factor Authentication(2FA) plugin.

• Login to your WordPress instance and click on Plugins > Add New .
  
  


• Search for the Google authenticator plugin and click on the Installation Now button.
  
  


• Now click on the Activate button.
  
  

Follow these steps to set up 2-factor authentication for your account :

• Click on the User's section in the menu to the left.
• Go to Your Profile section or click on the edit button of your account.
  
  


• You can select any authentication method.
• Let us configure Google Authenticator as the 2nd factor.
  
  


• Scan the QR code for using Google Authenticator app.
  
  


• Either say one-time passcode.
  
  


• Click the Verify and Save button.
  
  


• Now the OTP is Validated Successfully.
  
  


• On the bottom left, click the Update Profile button.
  
  


• After successfully setting up your user account, go to WordPress (preferably in a private/incognito window) and log In to your WordPress account.
  
  


• After Successful Login to WordPress, you will be prompted for the 2nd factor.

Follow these steps to set up 2fa for another admin user account :

• Go to the Users section and click on the add new button.
  
  


• Create a new user from here.
  
  


• Click on the edit button of the respective account.
  
  


• You can select any authentication method. Follow the description of the method.
• Let us configure Google Authenticator as the 2nd factor. Select the radio button as shown below.
  
  


• On the bottom left, click the Update user button.
  
  


• Another admin will get an email which will contain a link to configure the 2nd factor.
• Click on the link provided below to set up 2-factor Authentication.
  
  


• The user will be redirected to the login page, and then he/she will need to log in to the site.
  
  


• Users can scan the QR code using Google Authenticator App and then Google Authenticator will get configured on their phone.
  
  


• Either say one-time passcode.
  
  


• Click the Verify and Save button.
  
  


• Now you have successfully configured the 2-factor authentication.
