How to setup 2FA on any login form with miniOrange WordPress 2FA plugin?

This guide helps to setup 2FA on any login forms using the miniOrange WordPress 2FA plugin. This plugin provides various authentication method such like TOTP based authenticator app, OTP Over SMS, OTP Over Email, Email Verification, Security Question, etc.

Let's see how the user can easily set up 2FA on the login form in just a few simple steps:-

  1. Login form
  2. Custom login form

After you've configured your 2FA plugin, this plugin supports the following login forms. You can setup 2FA if you're using any of these login forms.

  • Ultimate Member Login Form, WooCommerce Login Form, Theme My Login Form, RegistrationMagic Form, Login with Ajax, Admin Custom Login Form, Restrict Content Pro login form, BuddyPress Login Form, Elementor Pro Login Form, Profile Builder Login Form, LoginPress Login Form, User Registration Login Form.
  • If you are using a custom login form and need to setup 2FA, follow the steps in Step 2.
  • Navigate to the Form Integration subtab within the 2FA Configuration tab of the miniOrange Two-Factor Authentication plugin.
  • Custopm Login Form - 2FA configuration tab

  • Select the checkbox to the Enable 2FA on Any Custom Login Form.
  • Input the login form URL in the URL of Login Form field.
  • Custopm Login Form - Enable Custom Login Form

  • Go to the custom login form and inspect it.
  • Inspect the form and note down the Form Selector, Email field selector, Password field selector, and Submit button selector.

  • Go to the Form Integration Subtab.
  • Enter all the custom login form field selectors into their respective input fields.
  • Then click on the Save Settings button.
  • Custom Login Form - Click Save Settings

    Note: For different types of attributes, write the selectors as shown in the table below.

  • If there are multiple login forms, enter their URLs and field selectors, separated by commas.
  • Click the Save Settings button to apply 2FA to all login form.
  • Custopm Login Form - Enter Multiple form URL and Selectors

  • Navigate to the Custom Login Form, enter the user’s login credentials, and click the Login button.
  • Custopm Login Form - Click login

  • You will be prompted to set up a two-factor authentication method. You can choose any 2FA method, but here we will set p the Google Authenticator method.
  • Choose the “Google/Authy/Microsoft Authenticator” radio button.
  • Custopm Login Form - Select Method

  • Choose Google Authenticator from the dropdown and scan the QR code from the Authenticator App.
  • Copy the 2FA code from the Google Authenticator app, enter the 2FA code in the text box, and click on the Verify button.
  • Custopm Login Form - Scan QR code

  • Now, click on the Download Codes button to securely save the backup codes provided to you. These codes will help you login when you are locked out of your account for any reason.
  • Click on the Finish button to complete the setup.
  • Custopm Login Form - CLick Finish

  • The user has successfully logged into the account. The Google Authenticator method has been set up for the account.
  • Custopm Login Form - Login Successfully

    Note: After logging in with a backup code, you will need to reconfigure the Google Authenticator method for your account.
