Import Users from LDAP

Import users from LDAP to Drupal

The import users feature allows you to import all your Active Directory / LDAP users to your Drupal site. This module also gives you the flexibility to import only a subset of users from your LDAP server based on the selected search base. In addition to importing the users, you can also map user roles/groups and other information from LDAP to the corresponding user attributes in Drupal.

Prerequisite:

Configure LDAP user import in Drupal:

  • Navigate to the LDAP Provisioning tab of the module.(admin/config/people/ldap_auth/user_sync)
  • DImport users from LDAP to Drupal - Go to the LDAP Provisioning tab
  • Under the Import users from your LDAP Server section select how frequently you want to import (create and update) your LDAP users to the Drupal site.
  • Select the Search user by email checkbox if you want to search your users by their email and username in Drupal while syncing the users on import. This will avoid the creation of a duplicate Drupal account.

    • If the user exists in Drupal, their info is updated with LDAP server data.
    • If the user does not exist in Drupal, a new user is created using LDAP info.
  • Enable the Enable Attribute and Role Mapping checkbox if you want to map users’ LDAP information to their Drupal account and assign them specific Drupal roles based on their LDAP Groups. Check out more about Attribute and Role mapping.
  • Import users from LDAP to Drupal - Enabling the checkbox of Enable Attribute and Role Mapping
  • Select the Auto-create users after sync checkbox if you want to create new Drupal users if they don't already exist.

    • Block the new users who are not present in Drupal and present in AD: The users who are present in the LDAP server and not present in Drupal will be created as blocked users in Drupal.
    • Block the users who are not present in AD and present in Drupal: The users who are present in Drupal and not present in the LDAP server will be blocked in Drupal.
    • Create a user as per the AD ( active/blocked if a user is active/blocked in AD): The users will be created as per the LDAP server. If a user is blocked/active in the LDAP server then it will be created as a blocked/active user in Drupal.
    • Do not block any user: No user will be blocked on the Drupal site.
  • Import users from LDAP to Drupal - Select Auto-create users after sync
  • Under the Username Attribute select the LDAP attribute under which you get your user’s Drupal username. This will be used to check if the user exists in Drupal by this username.
  • Click on the Import Users button to start importing the LDAP users to your Drupal site. If you face any issues you can check Reports → Recent logs messages to check the logs or contact us at drupalsupport@xecurify.com.
  • Import users from LDAP to Drupal - Select Username Attribute and click on Import Users button
  • After successfully importing your users, you will see the Drupal success message. Refer to the below screenshot.
  • Import users from LDAP to Drupal - You can see in the screenshot below that the users were successfully imported.
