How to configure Single Sign-On (SSO) for Shopify using NetSuite as Identity Provider (IdP)?

NetSuite Single Sign On (SSO) for your Shopify store. miniOrange provides a ready to use solution using your Shopify store. To configure SSO into NetSuite LMS with Shopify as IDP, you will need to install the miniOrange: Store as IDP- SSO Login Application on your Shopify store.

Step-by-Step Guide for configuring SSO into NetSuite LMS using Shopify Store as IDP

  • Go to your shopify store, click on Apps tab and select Store as IDP-SSO login application.

  • From the left navigation bar select Apps and click on Add Application button.

  • Go to SAML tab and search for NetSuite and select NetSuite (SAML).

  • Fill out the following fields by referring the below table:

ACS URL https://system.netsuite.com/saml2/acs
Single Logout UR https://system.netsuite.com/saml2/slopost
Name ID E-Mail Address
NameID Format urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress
Group Name DEFAULT
Policy Name NetSuite
Login Method Password
  • Click on the Save button to save your configuration.
  • Now navigate to Select option and choose Metadata tab.

  • Now click on Show Metadata Details under INFORMATION REQUIRED TO AUTHENTICATE VIA EXTERNAL IDPS section. Copy down Metadata URL as it will be used in furthur steps.

You have completed Shopify side configurations.
  • Sign on to NetSuite with your user credentials.
  • Go to Setup > Company > Enable Features :

  • Select SuiteCloud on the Enable Features menu :

  • Scroll down to the Manage Authentication section.
  • Check SAML SINGLE SIGN-ON :

  • On the top menu, select Setup > Users/Roles, then click Manage Roles :

  • The Manage Roles section that contains a list of all the roles assigned in your organization opens. Select Edit for a role for which you want to enable SAML:

  • Scroll down to the Permissions section, then click Edit :

  • Select Setup :

  • Select the dropdown icon to display the list above the empty box. Select SAML Single Sign-on, then select Add :

  • You will see both selections listed with the level Full :

  • Select Save to return to the Manage Roles section.
  • On the main menu at the top of the page select Setup > Integration > SAML Single Sign-on :

  • The SAML Setup page opens. Copy and paste the LOGOUT LANDING PAGE. Check PRIMARY AUTHENTICATION METHOD. Select UPLOAD IDP METADATA FILE, then select Choose File to locate and upload the metadata file you download in Step 1. Click Submit.

  • Go to Setup > Company > Company Information:

  • Make a copy of your NetSuite ACCOUNT ID, marked in red below:
Note: After copying the Account ID, click here to check the above configuration

You have completed NetSuite side configurations.
  • Go to your NetSuite application and click on SIGN IN button.
  • You will be redirected to Shopify store Sign on Page. Enter your Shopify Store login credentials and click on Sign in.

  • You will be successfully logged in to your NetSuite account.
Hence, you have configured Shopify store as an Identity Provider for your NetSuite application.
